Connect. Simple right?
But when was the last time you actually embraced the word? Challenged yourself to step outside your comfort zone and connect with someone new. As humans, we are often good at sharing superficially, but it takes courage and often a preparedness to be vulnerable, to share deeply.

At Abbotsleigh, we strive to establish genuine connections and to ‘share from the heart’. We believe this can truly happen through courage and vulnerability. TEDxYouth@Abbotsleigh will bring the true essence of the word to the stage; from amazing speakers who've taken on the challenge to connect with an audience. This requires a lot of courage and will ultimately bring about joy and inspiration.

Genuine connections occur when we listen to diverse voices and welcome new ideas and opinions to help us better understand others. We aim for our audience to come away from the experience having been inspired by our speakers, stimulating discussion and reflection on how they themselves may be vulnerable in order to create new connections. We believe that there are infinite connections to be made with those in our world. It’s time to embrace vulnerability and get connecting!

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@Abbotsleigh, where x = independently organised TED event. At our TEDxYouth@Abbotsleigh event, live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.

This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
